Review of 2017

December 21, 2017 by Alex Broadway in Blog 0 comments 1315 2 tags: 2017, clients, copper, merger, review, work

As the year draws to a close, we thought we’d have a quick review of 2017 and what has been a year of highs and lows for us here at Copper.

A Rough Start

We began the year with some incredibly sad news and the untimely passing of our friend and colleague, Tim Kitchin. This is a loss still felt by all who knew and worked with him.

Endeavouring to carry on after this setback, we’ve had an incredibly busy and productive 2017. There have been lots of exciting projects for us this year and we’re still working flat out as it comes to the end.

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
– Steve Jobs

Getting Down to Work

Among many things, we’ve helped our clients raise vital donations and support for emergency crises in East Africa, Myanmar and Mexico. We’ve helped charities enhance the experience for their donors through better planned and managed email journeys and programmes. We’re also in the process of rolling out a new and improved welcome programme for a regular giving product. Everyone loves a warm welcome. Our updates, appeals, resources and surveys, have all helped to bring the work our clients do closer to their supporters.

We created a suite of display ad templates to help our client respond quicker and more effectively when they need to stand up for people in difficult situations. We’ve been managing AdWords, both paid and Grant, and social content to get causes in front of people who care about them. For some campaigns where we’re capturing new supporters we’ve followed these through with nurture journeys we’ve devised and implemented, ensuring new supporters are engaged and excited about the journey they’ve started.

In addition to our tactical and strategic work, it’s been great to share our knowledge and expertise with fundraisers and marketers. We’ve run training around email marketing and fundraising best practice, helping charities communicate better and deliver experiences that keep their supporters engaged.

“We have helped more charities raise more funds through deeper engagement.”

Refocus on CX

A common theme through most of our work this year has been the stronger focus on helping charities providing better digital experiences. Customer Experience – CX – will continue to be a strong focus for us through 2018. We recognise the importance of good experiences for donors so we’re focusing more on how we can impact and enhance the donor experience for our clients.

Ending the Year with a Bang

Copper have merged with Xtraordinary fundraising, combining the complementary skills and expertise of our two teams under one roof. This allows us to deliver more intelligent and effective campaigns for charities and our clients under the Copper banner. And not only that, we’ll be doing so from our new office! Having spent the last 5 or so years just off Upper Street in Islington, we’ve moved to a new office! Still in Islington but we’re now in a new office slightly closer towards Angel. Exciting times indeed for all of us here.

As we look ahead, full of optimism for 2018, we hope you all enjoy your festive period and we’ll see you in the New Year!

Our office will be closed from 23rd December 2017 – 2nd January 2018 (inclusive).
